To understand what an extruder is, we must first understand what the extrusion process is. Extrusion is when a material, usually pellets, dry powder, rubber, plastic, metal bar stock, or even food, is heated and pushed through a die. A die is basically a mold that shapes the material as it passes through a small opening to the other side. It is one of the most common ways to produce metal, plastic and rubber sheets and strips. An extruder is a machine used to complete the extrusion process. Using a system of barrels and cylinders, the machine heats the product and pushes it through a mold to create the desired shape.

What is the extruder used for?

Extruders can be used to create a wide variety of products by shaping different materials. For example, our breakfast cereals and prepackaged snacks are often made using food extruders that use controlled, uniform pressure and temperature to create the nearly identical pieces we pour into our bowls every morning.

Pet food and treats are created with food extruders for this reason. To create a high level of consistency and quality in the meals we give to our furry family members. Food forming extruders can be used as standalone applications or combined with a cooking extruder for integrated cooking and cooling.

Rubber bales can also be extruded for various purposes. For example, rubber extruders can create extruded hydrogels, which are used to create everything from contact lenses to cartilage replacements. A rubber extruder can break down large, sticky bales without the use of talc or special chemicals. Extrusion equipment is even used to create materials that purify the air and water in our homes. Vacuum extruders, originally used in the clay industry to deaerate products, are now used to create activated carbon. The extruder expels air from the carbon to enhance its absorbent properties and prepare it for use in any number of air and water purification applications.

While these are some of the most common extrusion types supported, other extrusion equipment manufacturers may specialize in extruders for other materials such as plastic, clay, aluminum, or other metals. For example, plastic extruders can be used to make PVC pipes. As you can see, the types of extrusion equipment and their applications are very diverse.

Will any extruder do this?

Some extruders are designed to perform a specific function such as deaeration of a material, dewatering or pelletizing it. Capacity is another differentiating factor. For large batches and maximum capacity, a company may need, for example, a high volume production extruder (Terrier). Meanwhile, a company that specializes in research and development will likely do well with small-volume lab extruders for small-batch production and testing of their products. Another company may need a completely different solution. What you need depends on the applications, volumes, shapes and materials needed to do the job.

Ex means (outside) and truder means (pressure). The word extrusion is derived from the Latin word extruder.

In the plastic industry, there are various techniques for shaping polymer materials, one of these techniques is the extruder. The types of polymer production machines with open and linear openings can be called extruders.

In this method or technique, the material from the inside of the cylinder and mardon reaches the hed with the released pressure. Different shapes inside or outside the shell and the second stage of the shaping process determines the shape of the piece.

In the medical equipment industry, the extruder is used to produce tubes, and the combination of the extruder technique with the plastic injection technique makes all kinds of disposable medical parts appear.

One of the advantages of plastics is their easy, quick and numerous plasticity. Imagine producing a part (nelaton connector) with a material other than plastic.

Unfortunately, this was impossible because no material could be found that had the necessary flexibility to install on the relevant device.

In addition, if we were to turn the mentioned parts, how much time and energy would we have to spend and was this action cost-effective?

The fact that plastics are polluting, despite the global determination not to use polymers in various industries, has failed to question the use of these parts in the medical equipment industry.

Day by day, various medical parts are added. In the meantime, the role of extruders in the production of various parts is crucial and decisive.
